Virtual pet care: how to keep your pet happy

Looking after a virtual pet is simple once you know its four needs. This guide explains each one, how the rooms help, and the small daily habits that make your pet grow fast.

Virtual pet care: how to keep your pet happy

The four needs

  • Hunger: feed your pet in the kitchen. Drag the food to its mouth. A favourite food counts double.
  • Cleanliness: in the bathroom, rub the soap over your pet until it is covered in foam, then rinse it all off with the shower.
  • Fun: stroke your pet, play a mini game in the play room or catch butterflies in the garden.
  • Energy: in the bedroom, switch off the light. Your pet sleeps until it is fully rested and wakes up by itself.

Read your pet's mood

Your pet's face tells you how it feels: happy, content, hungry, dirty, sleepy, bored or sad. When a need gets low, a thought bubble appears above its head, and the home screen gives you a shortcut to the room that helps.

When it is hungry it often craves one specific food. Feeding exactly that fills it faster and makes it extra happy.

A simple daily routine

  • Morning: open Huko, collect the daily gift and give your pet breakfast.
  • During the day: a mini game or two for coins, and a quick bath if it got messy.
  • After meals: take it to the toilet in the bathroom when it needs to go.
  • Evening: finish the three daily quests for bonus coins, then lights off.

Growing up faster

Every bit of care earns experience. Favourite foods, a thorough bath and mini games give the most. At level 3 your pet is young and the garden opens; at level 5 it is grown up, usually after about a week of normal care.

If you were away

Needs keep changing while the app is closed, but only up to a limit, so a weekend away will not ruin anything. Your pet is never lost: it might be hungry and a little sad, and a meal and a cuddle fix that.

Pet care tips for real pets, too

A virtual pet is a gentle way to practise the habits real animals need: regular meals, fresh water, cleaning, play and rest. Many families use a virtual pet to see if a child is ready for a real one. Each animal page has real-life care tips or fun facts.

Questions and answers

How often should I check on my virtual pet?

Two or three short visits a day keep a Huko pet happy. Its needs change slowly, over hours, not minutes.

Why is my pet sad?

A pet is sad when several needs are low at the same time. Feed it, give it a bath, play with it and let it sleep, and its mood comes back.

Why will my pet not eat?

A pet that is full refuses food, and each animal only eats what its species likes plus the basic kibble. Try another food or come back later.
